I worked for them for a week the director donna was very rude. They allow thier employees to lie to customers during the 2nd and final interview.

Everyone is selected but are told to put the customer on hold and make them think that we have to get the office directors approval on if we can bring them aboard as new talent when actually we would come back to the phone and lie and say the director had approve when we never even gave to get approval at all they just want your money that's the 2 bd phone interview they want 188.95 then if you pay you go on your 3 rd interview where they try to get more money .

Insiders tip RUN they are A Scam they actual allow thier staff to lie to get the sale. Don't go to the open call .

I have been with Nine9 Agency for about 4 months now and have had nothing but good come out of it. They have helped me get numerous gigs and I am actually having to pick and choose what and where I can work...There workshops are great.

I actually met one one one with Lauren Hudson who has helped me with monologues... I have nothing bad to say about the agency..its what you put into it..

You have to do some work if you want to be submitted.

One Source Talent Talent Agency Service Review from Washington, District Of Columbia

First interview was cool but it wasn't really an interview I suspected to have. they didn't ask many questions but they took pics of me and measurements.

Got a call back.. Came to my 2 interview. Photo shoot set up and all.. Not many got called back..

Finally got to the back and I'm being told what I would fit into doin such as commercial and advertising then wanted more pics but before I even did the shoot.. Bam some lady come at me with a $240 starting fee and they need it right then and there.. I'm like I don't have it now and she was like well we can't start anything so we made another appointment for a payment.

I did more research on nine9 and again I see new stuff from people saying they only wAnt your money and you won't hear from them again so I call and ask about to speak to the lady I last encountered with there and she got smart saying just try again next auditions and all this ***.. I refused to work with them scammers and there rude staff

Hello, my name is Taylor I work for the customer support division at our corporate headquarters located in Detroit, Michigan. The reason we changed our name is because people were confusing us with a talent agency.

We are changing the way the industry works, by giving the other 99% of people who are not represented by a agency a chance to experience the entertainment industry!

You do not sign a contract with us, and we do not receive commission off of any of the work you do.

All of our talent pay a one time membership fee for the creation of your marketing materials which includes your Nine9 composite card, access to our database for castings, and our modeling and acting workshops!

There is also a monthly maintenance fee to keep your account active with us, this can be discontinued at any time!

If you have any other questions you can give me a call on my personal line 248-220-6531

Scam

A gentleman walked up to me and gave his card and told me to scheduled an appointment for an open audition. First of all, I've done modeling before and NEVER had to pay anything!

They changed their name too probably because they scammed so many people. They ask for $1500.00 up front for pictures which someone else told me they paid and never receive their pictures !

TOTALLY scam ! Don't waste your time and please save your money!

One Source Talent / Nine9 Unagency Lawsuit Settlement

One Source Talent aka Nine9 Talent Unagency A LAWSUIT HAS BEEN SETTLED:

"Talent listing service would have to pay about $1.6 million — including cash and services — to resolve a case affecting thousands of former clients under a class-action settlement preliminary approved by a federal judge in Los Angeles." - LA TIMES

The company, One Source Talent of Troy, Mich., charges people a monthly fee of $40 (along with $249 set up) to access a database of audition and employment opportunities in the entertainment industry.

One Source Talent is now Nine 9 Unagency. If you want to be charged money by people with a history like this, proceed at your own danger.

We are our brother's keeper

I received a call stating that they were interested in interviewing my daughter. I was half a sleep but agreed to a date and time (03/12/2016 @12:45pm.

I asked my husband, who answered the phone, how did they get our number. He did not know and neither did I. Well I received a text stating to type "yes" to confirm my appointment on tomorrow. I Google the address provided in the text and One Source Talent came up with the first link stating "SCAM".

after reading comments and reviews, I texted the number back (832) 271-**** advising not interested and to remove my number.

Thanks for the HEADSUP!!! Text originally came from (248)764-**** with an associated number (877) 976-**** advising to text back to number (832) 271-****

Got there they told me about all their "success " stories and I need pics not looking them up I believed them and payed them about 900 dollars for a photo shoot for my eldest and middle girls! One Source Talent - Photo Shoot Review from Dallas, Texas

I sent One Source Talent of Irving tx a photo of me and they called back the next day! I had to arrive by 6:45pm went into a room filled w/others, the director was a woman named Diana w/a strong accent, she sounded like a scam and not professional at all but who am I to judge.

Diana then explained everyone will not make it. They called my name to take a head shot & tell a little bit about myself. The woman name was Elizabeth, she then told me to come tomorrow at 3:30pm. I arrived, spoke to Elizabeth & she stepped out for about 20-30mins, came back & said they would love to work w/me.

I was excited until she told me I had to pay $495 & the $40 was not included. I've heard many times you should never pay up front if they want to work w/u.

So I left & they told me they will not hold my paper if I do not pay by the next day. Now reading these comments I realized they told everyone yes but split them up in times so no one will see everybody again!!!

There is no return on your money. Just tell them no and walk away.

I had that same experience with my two boys at this exact same office . They were told yes and to come back on Monday only for the gentlemen to step out to discuss a few things with his boss and decided only one of the boys would go on and then asked how would I be paying the $495 we left. I felt like something wasn't right

Very suspicious, not trustworthy

Ok so I went to an interview for these people and just after like a 3 minute interview the lady told me that she had "selected me to come back" (hooray!), but it seemed weird since she hadn't really asked me anything. I did another interview with them over the phone and again it was very short and the questions were simple things like "who inspires you in this industry?" and "how would you describe yourself?" At the end of the interview the lady said her and her "casting director" had decided to accept me as a client or whatever.

She then told me I would need to make a payment pretty much immediately, and that it was non refundable. When I asked if I could have some time to think about it she said "unfortunately we have a lot of clients right now and we would need your payment immediately" and that's when it didn't feel right. She then said "if you have to think about it then maybe you don't really want to work in this industry" and I said "I guess you're right, unfortunately I'm going to have to decline" and then she immediately hung up on me!

The whole thing was very suspicious and all the people sounded like they were reading from a script. I honestly feel like I dodged a bullet.

This article was helpful to me:

1. There’s no harm in someone teaching acting classes or selling headshots, as long as that’s what they are advertising.

If you thought you were going to an audition or a meeting to discuss representation, but the conversation is all about you buying something, that is a bait-and-switch!

2. Some casting calls may be “no experience necessary,” but they should be exactly that: a casting call. You come in, fill out some paperwork, get your photo taken, and are perhaps recorded on video. They’ll call if they decide to hire you.

No one tries to sell you anything, and there’s no fee to audition.

3. Reputable model and talent agencies are highly selective. If you show up and they are immediately willing to sign you regardless of your experience or suitability, question their motives—especially if they ask for money.

4. Bona fide agencies don’t require you to take their classes or use their photographer.

They may provide a list of recommended coaches or photographers in your area, but they should not pressure you to use a specific one, or try to sell you something in their agency agreement.

5. Legitimate agents make a commission off the gigs they find for you.

If they engage in hard-sell techniques for classes, photos, contests or representation, beware. That’s how they’re making their money, not by finding you work.

Guest

I, too, was about to make an appointment and felt excited about the opportunity to meet with this company. However, after I listened to my voice mail (which was sent less than 24 hours of completing the online application - this never happens BTW), I got suspicious as it sounded all too familiar.

Sure enough, my suspicions were correct. I had already went through this initial process with another company in the past (One Source) when trying to get noticed for a reality tv opportunity.

As I was on the phone interviewing the lady who called me, I came across the information regarding the (alleged) Class Action Lawsuit, and the name change to Nine9. When I asked about this, I was told "we are rebranding", and "there's no lawsuit"!

BS

Please use your best judgement and don't fall prey to anyone asking for money upfront for services that are not guaranteed.

The only way this business will stay afloat is by people paying these fees for nothing!! Please do your homework!!

OST maintains a database for cheap employers to look through - this is what you're paying for, to be in their database. The clients who hire through OST are cheap, let me say it again - CHEAP.

The jobs you get through OST won't be good ones, a starting ground maybe, if you get anything at all. You most likely will be paid peanuts or nothing at all. The part that bothers me is that everyone is black - I don't mean it in a racist way, but I know the entertainment and media lords happen to be Jewish. If you are headed to the top, then you need to see visible signs of the lords that run the whole show.

My daughter's interviewer was a *** male. Something just smells fishy-rotten in OST...

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1086135

Your're right, the entertainment and media lords DO happen to be Jewish, maybe that's why no blacks were nominated at the oscars. But the One Source Talent I went to in New York had mostly white people working there. Maybe we went to 2 different One Source Talents.

Guest

P lease is my 11 year old daughter was called to one source and the next day she started checking the reviews she saw bad reviews and know her friend told her that she had to pay for the classes do u have to pay for the classes

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1080925

Yes, of course you have to pay for acting classes. You have to pay for acting training and acting classes anywhere you go.

Acting lessons AREN'T free. You DO have to pay for them. The average acting class, acting training or acting schools should be from $299 to no more than $1000. Yes we DO have to invest, but that's one of the only ways to get a legit agent is through acting classes or acting workshops which have Agent Showcases at the end where you will perform and audition in front of a LIVE agent hoping you sign with them.

I hear a lot of the top Hollywood actors and actresses had attended acting schools or drama schools or even acting colleges like Juilliard and Yale School of Drama before they made it big.

I pay $79 a month for my daughter's 9 month acting class at a Drama School in New York. That's still under $1000. So invest in your daughter's future and pay for her acting class.

I think she will benefit in the long run. If you're not comfortable with her taking classes at One Source Talent, she can always take acting classes elsewhere like an Acting School or Drama School where they have legit Agents come there for Showcases.

Barbizon DO have an acting class department as well as a modeling class department. My daughter attended their modeling class department back in 2010 and graduated from it, but she didn't benefit from it because first of all, she is always told that she is too short for the height of the average model, but that's the class Barbizon put her in first.

I don't know why Barbizon put her in the modeling class in the first place if she's too short to be a model. They should have just put her in the acting class department to begin with. I let my daughter take the modeling class because I thought after she takes the modeling class, she automatically enters the acting class part. I thought those 2 classes come together, until I find out it was a separate price for the acting part.

I said forget it. So my daughter never really benefited from Barbizon. If I would have known right away, I would have had Barbizon put my daughter in the acting class department first and not deal with the modeling part at all.

Once Source Talent will call people when people apply online, but so does Barbizon. Barbizon called my daughter when she applied online.

Barbizon DO have their own agent right in their office. I met up with her and talked with her, but their agent never really found work for my daughter.

The only conclusion I came up with, is that One Source Talent is actually a casting service and an Acting School or training school like Barbizon and John Robert Powers, they are NOT an agent. They're casting services are no different from Backstage.

People always say you don't have to pay a legit agent upfront fees, but in a way, we ARE paying upfront fees to have an agent by having to take acting classes and acting training at Acting Schools or Drama Schools where real legit agents come to look for talent. So the other blogger was right, in a way, you DO have to pay for an agent! Those other bloggers that gave One Source Talent 5 stars probably went as far as paid for the training, then got jobs. I learned a lot from reading the website below.

Everyone should read it.

It tells you the difference between scam agencies and real talent agencies. http://actingcareerinfo.com/scam-agencies-vs-real-talent-agencies/#comments

Guest

GREAT NEWS I NEEDED TO HEAR CAUSE I JUST SIGNED WITH OST AND I'M HOPING FOR THE BEST

Guest

I am a talent agent - I do not charge my talent one penny, for anything. I earn my money once the actor I submit has successfully auditioned and booked the role.

Then I earn 10%.

That's it. That's what legit agents do.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1021925

So if you're a legit talent agent, why are you doing your review on One Source Talent "anonymously"? I agree with you on the upfront cost, but I was curious on why you signed Anonymous.

Are you currently looking for any new clients? If so, please post your URL.

9 times out of 10 agents don't get paid until you book a job and get paid for it. The fact that they ask for so much (excluding the cost of pictures) is a huge red flag.

One Source SCAM

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Over a year ago I got an email from these people, and didn't really know where they got it from. Anyway, they asked me to go in and talk to their casting directors.

I was in LA that day anyway. So I did stop by thinking it would only take a few minutes, then they had me watch some dumb video, sit around for a half hour and in a room with tons of wannabee actors and models. Then finally this exec type woman walks out and says, "We have decided to go with you and represent you." I worked at a Talent Agency for years so I knew the cold cattle call type thing wasn't how it was done in Hollywood. She talked about the materials they needed to advertise me with and in order to sell me.

I was like, I already have a few good head shots. And she said, "You need everything new." I was like, uh.... But she went on to try and pitch me the contract to sign. It was $998.00 dollars!!!

She was very pushy and asked for my credit card. I was like, *** no woman! She tried everything to get my credit card from me. LOL I knew then that they had wasted me time and one hour lost.

To make a long story short, I left that office. Very FAST. One Source talent is a SCAM. To all...

BEWARE! Another thing, what I have done since. I've been cast in several films since, including a role in an Indie feature film. And I played a Detective on a TV series.

Did I pay $998.00 for this?

Nope. I got paid about that much for my gigs though, and without giving them money.

What's the name of the company you went to its hard to find a real acting agency

Guest

Where/what was the company you went to to get in the films? I've been trying for years now and none of them worked.

So at the end what how did you do to get cast? Where did you go?

Guest

What agency did you go through?

Guest

Really curious, where did you go to get your gigs. What is the secret? Where cam we go that won't charge us anything?

Guest

THANK YOU * I THOUGHT THIS WAS REALLY WEIRD

Guest

they're not agents, they don't represent people. So, I feel like this is not a legit claim.

Also the comp card is only $149 so I don't know where you got that $998 from unless it was a separate and OPTIONAL charge for photo shoot options, but even them I think the highest is around $400 for 100 proofs or so.

Agencies take cuts from your check and represent you. One Source is a service, a business.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I received an email from them on behalf of my son and they asked me to come in for an interview. Like many of you, I had to watch the video and then they called him in for the interview, he took a few pictures and they sent you on your way.

A few days later they call you back for a second interview where they hit you with the "our corporate office was very impressed and want to work with you however here is our fee." Like a fool, I went ahead and paid the money thinking this would be a great opportunity for my son. I gave them a debit card number that I knew was going to be cancelled in a few days to put on file. So they did not get any more money from me. I received the same type of call about two months later asking me to come in for the initial interview.

I tried to explain I was already a paid member but no one understood. I SNAPPED. I exploded verbally on each and every person I called. There is no freaking corporate office all of that was lies and I voiced my feelings as such.

I further advised that I was not paying for *** so stop calling me about having a problem with my credit card, or for him needing additional pictures for another $350.00 or whatever.

I said until he gets a casting and a job doing something to make money, I was not about to spend any money. We still have not gotten a job but my son has gone on a few castings for free.

This is a crying shame. I would not be able to be employed at a company like this who goes around scamming people for money and crushing children's dreams.

Be about what you say you are about. There are kids out there doing big things because they have a good agency behind them. I have called One Source Talent and they are not even capable of answering your questions over the phone. Everyone is clueless.

I truly wish nothing but blessings for your son and hope that all of his dreams come true.
